I Never Needed the Ocean to Feel Small

People often travel to the mountains to discover humility. Some stand before endless oceans and suddenly realize how insignificant they are. The waves continue to rise and fall without caring who we are. The mountains remain unmoved by our achievements, our heartbreaks, our names, or our ambitions. And people call this realization beautiful. But I have always wondered— What if someone never needed a mountain? What if someone already knew how small they were? I have never needed an ocean to teach me my worth. I have carried that understanding within me for years. I know I am temporary. I know I am ordinary. I know that the world will continue exactly as it is, whether I stay or disappear. And strangely, there is freedom in that. People spend their entire lives trying to become important. They collect titles, relationships, achievements, and memories as if they are building monuments against time. But time has a habit of erasing everything. I am nothing. And I have made peace with it.
